My bro bought an '89 5.0GT 5 speed ragtop from Rochdale off eBay a couple years back, 1800 nicker, a Bananarama! steal
225 horses, a right lil ripper, pulled the motor and trans out & stuck it in Miles old Cougar.

That happened to most of them ( hardtop and ragtop ), they weren't well received when released, especially as they followed the hated Mustang II, they look like a cross between a MK III Escort and a Capri. They have a huge following in the states but not so much over here

There's an entire industry devoted to the fox platform in the states.
Still a very much overlooked car here but they make excellent drag racers .
Ironically it's natural competitor the late model Camaro was very popular here wasn't it?

It was, and still is. Strange how two similar cars can have such different reactions from people. Next to each other, the 3rd gen Camaro looks better ( in my opinion ), came with the option of a 5 litre or 5.7 litre where as the Mustang was still suffering from the affects of the previous version and was limited to a 2.3 four banger or the 4.9 sold as a 5.0. The drivetrain was a definite hit with people, it was the styling that let it down. Certainly a marmite car overhere, but prices are starting to climb, all be it slowly. Think it's more due to rarity over here than desireability though.
