Glad I got the new screen and rubber fitted over in Georgia before the Duster is shipped back ,added advantage was I saved about £300 having it done over there.

I think it's Peter that I spoke to last week Gareth, about the gasket and he imported the screen for the fitting co, he recommended Steele too.

I'm still in discussions with the fitting co :rol

 I offered to install it but he wouldn't bend over

To be fair to the guy he was far more knowledgeable and has his own American car (Trans-am I think) so I kinda Bananarama! was him that came out first time. Apparently they don't send the same fitters out if there has been a problem. He also knew it was the wrong screen but the usual head office protocol demands a wasted trip

Surely this must be costing someone somewhere? Ultimately us car owners I guess in premiums, lets not go there [-X I'll stick to the thread, next job is ANOTHER call to the screen company :blah: :blah:

Hommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :hippy2: staying calm..........

Just had a call to say that the screen gasket is in the country and being picked up by the windscreen company tomorrow, what could possibly go wrong ;)

After the Lincoln Navigator screen coming for the Demon, who knows :dontknow: I could run a book on what it's gonna fit

1- Dacia Duster?
2 - Honda Pessary?
3 - Toyota Satsuma?
4 - Dodge Demon? [-o< [-o< [-o<

Gentlemen, place your bets

TADA!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: a different fitter arrived today with a new rubber gasket (Steele Rubber Products and veryy good it is too :thumbright: ) but hang on, what's that you say Mr screen fitter?

NO WINDSCREEN?!?!? :banghead: :wack: :violent3: :violent1: give me strength

The new screen did arrive a month before the rubber but its been so long it appears to have been broken in storage

To be fair to this guy he was excellent, he knew exactly how the rubber and the screen needed to go in so he checked out the "old" new screen from last time. He was very confident he could fit it for now as the crack was in the corner and went in and out of the glass on one side.

A new screen is now on order but thanks to his skill and patience I was able to go for a drive this afternoon after a 3 month wait :D

It made such a difference having someone with an active interest in these cars working on my screen.

My insurance company have been great all the way through this and the last fitter excelled in my opinion but the admin and logistical staff have been either slightly worse than useless, or phenomenally skilled in creating immeasurable levels of indescribable chaos :runaway!: :runaway!: :argue:

We are not quite there yet but close for now :thumbright:

On the plus side, I've saved a fortune in fuel this year

Sure is Miles, oh and Dave, you don't know how right you are. I fixed an intermittent door switch tonight so I have an interior light at the end of the garage

Roydon has cried off as he has to work.

May take the Murdercycle as there is still about 5 tons of building materials blocking the garage.
