Yep I understand , Its been a bit chilly of late, and the pick up bed doesn't offer much protection from the elements, also very awkward to get the tent pegs to pierce the bed floor.

Mossy managed it at the NATS a few years ago.....he shared a tent on the back of his RAM with no matress!!! Hardcore or what!!

Hardcore, yeah, but probably about the safest place to be! Nic and I had a bit of a scare a few years ago camping at the pod... Can't remember what the event was now but we were kipping in a dome tent when some "clever" individual decided to act the goat in a silver blue corsa in the pits.
Long story short, he lost control and took out a trailer with a light pole on it.
I was just emerging from the tent to brush my teeth when he lost it and I saw him coming towards me and the tent. Fortuitously the car spun away and off towards the trailer and I dived back in on top of Nic.
Gives me chills every time I think about it.
We've taken to towing down a folding camper or staying in a travel lodge when we go down to the pod now. I figure at least we are up in the air out of harms way in the camper if something silly happens again.
I know lightening doesn't strike twice and I'll probably get called out for being soft but something like that does stick with you. It crosses my mind every time I put up a tent now.

There can be some idiots at the track, there have been a few incidents I can think of over the years. I once camped at the side of the entrance road by the pits, never again, you get no end of hooning on there late at night. I tend to be careful where I camp these days, preferably with my car between the tent and potential traffic.

Yep. Happened a few times. Including this year, though we're not supposed to talk about it...

Yep......after the donuts in the field 3 years ago, I decided to put up my tent with my car at the front, Armco to the side and 2 acres of Polara behind me......felt safe, but we all know what happened........
Does anybody know if the caravan residence are okay............?
Think the reason not to talk was police/investigation.......must have concluded by now?

Lucky with my better half as well, she's looking forward to building her engine ( a 351 Windsor from my old Ranchero ) in our living room! Yeah, I know! Her idea, not mine,
