we had a Suzuki ignis for 10 years

was given to us

made of tin foil
but I never broke it

5 speed box
0-30 in about 2 seconds 0-60 in about 4 years i.e nippy in 1st and second leisurely in the rest

did 80

not a relaxing drive but you couldn't get it sideways

body roll approx. 1/2 of that in a 2CV puts most people off trying to go fast round corners

it had a new battery once that was it....

I wasn't a sympathetic driver

usual granny/grandpa fodder

anything from 1000cc to 1300 cc

Vauxhall rebadge wasn't as good

can't think they attract massive insurance

group 8 like the Kia

was actually sad to see it go. got £1K trade in I recon I was done

got a lambretta in the back with the seats down and its engine and forks removed (the lambretta not the ignis)

it was black so I played the A team theme loud enough to be heard from outside

always raised a few laughs.

it was actually a competent little car with great visibility and easy to park, being postman pat van shaped

mine had the towing package as well...it could tow a trailer as long as you didn't put anything in it.

PS TIMING CHAIN yay no belt no belt No belt every 3 years + pulley + water pump + tensioner etc etc

Used to be a case of stay away from brands of cars that people want (so no VW etc).

10 Years ago I went through Hyundai. Cheap as chips motoring and unbelievably......extremely reliable.

The Old Accent (52 plate) just worked and used nothing but fuel.
Cost me 140 for 4 brand new tyres fitted as well (Blackcircles), as they were of a Silvercross Pram.

Both them and Kia though have come on leaps and bounds too.

Re French cars... I know several mechanics and recovery drivers who depend on them to stay in business!

That's a good buy but insurance jumps for anything over 9 years old.
