Will be ,when I ditch the grandad look. Wide black steelies, black tyres and hub caps for a start.i ...When I get bored with the flathead 6 , it's V8 Mopar time.

Saw this late so I hpe this helps.

When buying without going there I always advise customers to really do their homework.

Put the sellers name and location (town, state not ZIP) in Google, then try his number in two different searches like this 321 396 5253 and 321-396-5253. Then try all the above but with the word “forumâ€￾ added. Put the car make, model and phone number and you may find how long it’s been for sale for.

Then, anything else you can think of. Generally if there is anything bad it will come out of the woodwork with half an hour spent on Google.

Get he seller to send you a copy of the title and a utility bill matching the title. If he is a dealer he will not have these as it will be in the original owners name so ask him for a copy of his dealers licence.

Only pay a deposit via PayPal of say $500-$1000, pay the balance by wire transfer, no other method.

Ask your seller to send the title and bill of sale by FEDEX or UPS to your shipping agent. Don't let the title travel with the vehicle to the agent in the USA.

Also ask for a photo of the VIN plate and check it carefully against the title doc, mine had been filled in incorrectly on the title (out by one number). It only took 48 hours to correct in the US, but would no doubt have caused a right tizz at UK customs.

Also, make sure that, when you MoT the van here in the UK, the MoT man puts the correct VIN on the MoT form and doesn't mistake a '7' for a 'T' :roll:

If it is wrong, get it sorted while you are still there acknowledging he (or she) is at fault....

Otherwise....much stress and potentially cost as you transport your vehicle to a VOSA station.... may ensue.

Or, if you spot it after you leave, the vehicle has to be re-MoT'd as that is the only way to rectify it.

Oh, and if you insure the vehicle against the VIN during the import and registration process, remember to tell your insurer once you get a UK Registration number, otherwise you'll get a letter from DVLA asking why your vehicle is not insured....(They will automatically re-issue your MOT certificate though).

They no longer re-issue the MOT any more and just leave it on the VIN.

Insurance is a very good point too. You can now register without insuring a car and we did this last year for one of our imports and forgot about it because it needed loads of work. The reg came through and about 3 months later an £80 fine for not being insured!

I would say if he is a member on VV, that is his driveway, he was happy to add you on FB and he checks out… its as safe a bet as any.

Definitely ask him to scan a copy of the title and bill of sale for you and then post it to the shippers stateside.

Spotted the photo on A100 van site FB, looks ace :thumbright:
