I had a funny problem with the rear lights on the Polara which turned out to be a dodgy bulb. Because of the way the bulbs are installed, (glass bit uppermost) when the filament failed, the wire fell back into the base of the bulb & shorted itself out. Otherwise it would have just been a bulb that obviously wasn't working.

... probably completely irrelevant.

might be worth checking the courtesy light switches as well

Yes Stu, one of the brake lights had burnt a filament, but replacement didn't help.

Thanks Nigel. Fuse blows as soon as you open either door, so I thought it unlikely that both switches would fail simultaneously. But I will unscrew them and have a look...
