Great thread Steve, very funny :D

I'm with Dave Bishop tho - you must have too many female hormones as you have waaaaay too many cushions in your house/flat! Unless you've got a female living there too that you're not owning up to... :-k

Interesting prog on the other night about Chris Packham and his problems with Aspergers. He also suffers with a bit of OCD - just the tidyness bit like you - and all his clothes are on identical hangers, all facing the same way, arranged in groups of similar items :geek:

My girlfriend is worse than me but doesn't live with me (never again will I be made homeless by anyone!). I've got it made as I just have to put anything on the TV with Richards Rawlings in it and she disappears. She comes back into the room an hour later and, as if by magic, my kitchen and bathroom are spotless.

What makes it worse is that I spent years cleaning up after others (and a dog) only to find the place a tip again within minutes of doing it. It drove me mental and definitely contributed in a small way to the breakdown of my marriage. I was always taught by my parents to use something and put it away after as no one else will do it for me. I was always very tidy and organised at work (it was virtually punched into me at the training centre when I joined the Police in the mid 80s). I always work on the assumption that at anytime, anyone could turn up unannounced at my flat and I wouldn't be embarrassed by mess or untidiness.

Other traits are.... Cds alphabetically, books grouped by subject, paperwork in folders by subject and in date order etc etc.

I drove my mate Andy mad a few weeks ago. I helped him over 3 days to make up a huge section of decking in his garden. It took ages to screw the boards as I insisted on marking all the screws equally spaced and in straight lines. He was pleased after as it all looked neat.

I hate untidy car interiors (especially at shows) and when I'm camping, I need to have stuff I'm not using packed away in my rucksack just in case I have to run away from a messy person at short notice.... The list goes on I'm afraid 😨

My flat is like yours mate ( no cushions though !!!!)
I reckon it’s a divorce thing mate. Same as you I spent hours trying to keep things tidy , with a messy ex.
But ..... I still think there’s nothing better than getting stuck into a messy job on a car , or riding a mx bike in mud and rain.

And as far as ocd in my work..........don’t get me started !!!

Steve there is nothing wrong about being organised and tidy, I could see that in your car, sort of shows the person who owns it.

Anyhow nice to see you are enjoying life and having a laugh.
Catch up soon

Absolutely brilliant!!

There is no such thing as OCD , it is just OC . It's not a disorder. [-X

There are several people in my office with similar traits, its harmless and quite healthy.

I actually aspire to have a garage tidy as yours.

Good point Matt....

Life is great now Ali... really enjoying being stress free and having a pint whenever I want to (not sure if that's a good thing??).

Iike you Gaz, I can do mucky outdoor stuff (my motocross and trail riding days are well over now after knee op) but I have to clean everything afterwards. Cant leave stuff dirty and have to put my clothes in the wash asap.

Is 11 cushions in a two bed flat really too much????

Loose the lot mate !
They are no doubt for “ display” purpose only.
They only end up getting slung on the floor
Bloody things !!! [-X

Maybe I could keep them if I get some Stars and Stripes covers and put them all in the Polara??

I finished my workbench in the garage today and found myself measuring the gaps between the screws to make sure they were equally spaced out.... I do have issues :?

Lol you guys are gonna kill me ,I am so bad with my tools and organization, I have tried and tried, but I just seem to get sloppy, I did inherent my brothers tool boxes and I have to admit I do use his stuff but very sparingly as I have my own, but when I do use his stuff it is very easy to put it back right where I found it ,and then after working on his vette for 4 years now I noticed every screw is clocked ,yes the devil is in the details ,I know that, but I have gotten this far doing it as I do so oh well :salute:

I have 1 drawer in my tool chest for metric spanners & sockets and another drawer for their imperial counterparts... Does that count?

I used to be a bit ocd till my mate Wil lived with me for 6 months. His method of putting my tools away after fixing his car was to sweep them into the workshop with a yard brush. That pretty much cured me...

Hey Drew....I would love to tidy those tool boxes up. Better still, hang them all in size order on the garage wall... facing the same way of course.

No Jon, that's like getting a 'U' in the OCD exam.... must try harder!

DB, that scenario would drive me mental. When Im fixing anything, I have regular breaks to tidy. I almost have a system. I start then, when I realise that all I need is 2 sockets, a ratchet and some pliers, I put everything else away in its place so I have a minimum number of tools out (less to lose). Its great when doing brakes etc as I do one side then know that the handful of tools I have out are all I need.

I hoover a lot too #-o #-o #-o

Sounds abit like me, I have a draw for metric combi, a draw for A/F combi, a draw for A/F ring and a draw for A/F open, then one for A/f sockets, metric socets, flat head screw drivers, posi screw driver, pliers, adjustables, picks, chisels.
