The sealer used was probably just a general builders diy job that someone happened to have kicking around hence the petrol turning it to mush. If possible could you unbolt the filler from the tank and make some new gaskets? and get some new sealer from a motor factors as well to help seal when reassembling.
Keep you going till you can find the time/welder to sort your floor.

Hello m8, I tried to remove the filler but can't access the inside bolts,also,I've tried all the local car shops,but no-one carries a petrol resistant sealent,
there's some advertised on line,so i'll investigate them further,but will still proceed with getting a proper tank fitted,

Hi Martin, for the trunk floor repair, you might want to try wayne at Vintage American Repair shop over in kewstoke. He has done a few bits for me but has loads of experience with american cars. I Cant find his number, but i remember he had some kind of Facebook page advertising it.
