In my very limited experience, it will all come together and the difficult bits will be forgotten quickly when it's all done and looking great!

Last trial fit!
A little bit of putty, more primer then top coat. At last!

maybe tip?
I know you want to keep as much original metal as poss, I just cut a nice straight line makes for a neater weld and you can make a nicer jub

At least the panels are fairly flat, shouldn’t be the end of the world to hide the repairs.
