Having been stuck in the 14's since 2016, we took the Challenger to the nats with a view to running a 13. I had a Saturday track pass, but then rain stopped play. In recent years the car was plagued with minor transmission and traction problems, making passes difficult. So, I fitted a TCI street fighter with a 2500 stall.
Sunday seemed a washout at first, but the rain stopped and track dried by 3pm. Question was would we get a RWYB pass before the track closed?
With MT street/strip tyres fitted, got a run, but only a 14.6. Then, took another run with the exhaust cut-outs open, with little track time left. Crossed the line reving to the limit in 2nd.
Back at the pits, Jake (my Son) greeted me with the news it ran a 13.8 @ 101. What a relief, the 14's monkey of my back! I know there are many quicker cars out there, but I built the 340 with all gain no loss mods, primarily as a street car. It runs a 'tow truck' crane hydraulic roller cam, 10.5:1 closed chambered heads, a 770 Holley street avenger and 2.76:1 gears. I'm well pleased with the result!
Well done Chris, a great achievement for a street car.

Well, we had a great time, despite the rain. It's all about the people, and the weather meant everyone had time to chat.
I posted my Mopar pics at
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 848&type=3 Still got to sort through the non-Mopars.
I have a feeling Facebook blocks direct links to albums now, but the set is public, so if you can find me, you can find the album.

Good to see you and the Challenger Stu, albeit briefly. The rain kept everyone hidden away in tents and caravans, except you I think? (No I won't need my coat!).
Ah yes, not one of my better decisions.
Ironically, I’d only just left my waterproof in Pete’s camper to walk back to fetch the car. I was half way between the two when the monsoon started.

Good to be back at the Nats with my mate - Mopar Man Jamie Dunning. We travelled from Chester.. some 170 miles each way and my 69 Nova 350 made it without any drama.
Nice to catch up with Duncan and the Crewe crew.. beautiful cars!
Good to speak to Simon Fann for the first time.. Jamie and me had an interesting chat with Simon in the warm up lane.. very cool police Charger

Pete Wiseman told us not to miss out on Jason’s moonshine story.. we didn’t and what a story

My Nova beat it’s previous best quarter mile time from about 12 years ago (16.3) with a 15.2 and I am very happy with that

. A new carb and sorting out the throttle linkage was all it really took.
Thank you to all the organisers and the excellent staff at Santa Pod. Thanks to all those who brought their fantastic cars along to the track.
We may have skipped this year at the EuroNats but when we heard about Tony Oksien’s passing we just had to go and we had to go in an old muscle car.
Tony helped me import my Nova back in 2008. Tony helped me with technical knowledge when I bought my first muscle car - a 69 Charger back in the 90s.
Tony was a gentleman. We will miss him.
We were at the Nats for him
