Bypass hose and thermostat help

For my two cents, I had lots of bad overheating issues and buggered about with thermostats, hoses, radiator and all sorts before finally slapping on a £35 water pump and finding it had a massive impact. Blue kindly looked at the timing for me at a race meet and that made a big difference too. Fitted a 180 high flow thermostat and only get real issues in stationary traffic on hot days now.

Couple of other bits and bobs to do, but largely cured by a couple of cheap bits and a Blue tune!

correct lb rateing on the cap [/b] ,, its a bit trail and error, as I have a Nissan 300ZX Rad

seal surface corroded[/b] ,, all new

way too rich at idle (and/or not enough initial advance) (over heats in traffic) ,,,no looks good on the plugs

fan too far from radiator.,,, nothing I can do about this as the fan will hit the slam panel

wrong or no themostat. to rush round so fast it doesn't cool in the radiator lloking into this also

no reason why standard cooling should not work eletric fans just add load to alternator which adds load to motor which creates more heat I dont have a standard cooling system

After talking to a guy who builds steam engines..

He said add some more water to the system, as the header tank on the nissan rad is too small. resulting in not enugh coolant in the system .

So I made this which added 41/2 ltrs of water , Using the buypass hose in and outs

All is good now

standard cap was about 16 lb

that was a brass raditor with soldred on tanks and the usual rubbery pipes

if the nissan one is plastic tank and glue set up check what original used. don't want to pop it.

Radiator cap
I did start with a .0.9 bar and is wept when hot,, I think the one on now is 1.1bar
