I’m just in the middle of this, it’s the original wheel, I still need to polish up and darken the milliput but it shows what you can use it for. It shows up very pale in these, but a bit of WD40 will darken it or good old fashioned black ink from an ink pen cartridge. Deciding whether to sand and buff the whole wheel rim, or leave it and keep the character.

I use Zinseer waterbased paint for lots of stuff. Its brilliant. I discovered it when researching what paint to use to repaint my UPVC front door which is black. Its absolutely brilliant stuff and I feel pretty sure it would work well on pressed plastic panels. Will dig out a link and post it up....

I used to use milliput a lot for work, when I was younger. It’s good stuff, but not going to give me the finish I’m looking for on this one. Should work pretty well for what you are using it for though, I would think.

As there isn’t any particularly deep gouging, my feeling is it would show up and filler I tried to use, particularly as the texture is quite defined and would be difficult to match unless I painted everything.

They do a slightly textured version of the spray treatment I have, might look at that if the first attempt doesn’t work.

Was it Back to Black. I sprayed some years ago with satin black, they lasted years.

Yes I think Milliput is to bulky for fine repairs, although for a big area you could use a damp fine sponge to create a stippled surface. I’m quite pleased with how it worked out on the steering wheel, not invisible but ok. This is sanded back to P800 with a slight buff with wax.
