You can not fit a 440 crank /rods and pistons into a 383 block, the 440 block is taller, wider and has bigger crank journals for a start.

Welcome Mark and good luck with it.That engine bay and trunk floor are exactly as mine were when I bought it.My bodywork was half as bad and you interior is worse so you have more to do than I did.Only trouble is I bought mine in 89 and and am still farting about with it and still spending money!!

Hey Mark Welcome! I was in th same boat a few years ago,started rebuilding my first car when i was 23, took me 3 n a bit years but was never really finished! theres always something else to do.All i can say to you is try not get bored with it< keep thinking of that first spin, and dont get married! try keep going even if its only a little bit often and you'ii be surprised how quick it hits the road.
By the way this is an illness that there is no cure for! and it gets worse!!!!!
