I have the 1/2 inch adaptor Alex and I have lent it out to many people over the years without problems. I just wanted to know if he needed the adaptor or not.

The joint splitters look OK to me. There is another type which is better but finding a big one of those is even harder.

There is a trick to removing the LCA joint. Jack the LCA up a few inches and put a bar through under the UCA resting on two axle stands. Then remove the jack so that the bar is holding the suspension up. Loosen (but do not remove) the nut so that you have a few threads showing and then hit the joint with a heavy hammer. The joint will come away with a bang but only as far as the nut. You can then back off the height adjuster on the torsion bar and remove the ball joint nut completely.
