Nice work! That scuttle repair is top quality
I looked at the first pic in each sequence there and they both made me wince- been there, done that, lost the will to live, went away and did summat nicer, came back, sulkily started cutting up cereal packets...
Next thing you know you've got solid shiny metal where there was a ragged rusty hole and a big smug grin across yer blackened face

Very nice repairs, my scuttle didnt use quite the same quality cereal packets I think. Top job, keep it going.

Realistically....a few months of putting it through an M.O.T. but then i have the task of getting it registered
( no V5 or records of the origional number)

Pete have a word with Matt H he should be able to steer you in the right direction to get an age related plate. If they only made that model for certain years that helps to norrow down the right year for V5. Has it got a chassis no. you could check for info ?

I spoke to a guy at the historic vehicle federation (when i bought the car )and he has checked the chassis number and confirmed that it was built in September 1972, but i need to get an M.O.T. on it before i can approach the DVLA and get it registered.

. As you know the date and the car looks stock you should be ok when they look at it.. If you have the date in writing that would be better.

I'd love to know how he knew that!!!

probably just punted it into here

gives build date to the day build number (which is in the vin anyway) and sequence number.
most UK chargers would have had export options on plate as well
my guess would be F56 (antifreeze export only)
X22 for any UK export after 72 so that it had MPH speedo when all Oz cars went Kmh
or X35 for built up export UK which would cover the above
