Simon the blue stuff is Granville Heavy Duty Rust Converter I have used this in the past and found it very good. We have used it in all the hard to get at areas inside the car with light surface rust. Once these areas have been treated and covered with 2 pack paint they should be fine.
We have now completed the rust removal and as Connor has said before don't sand blast at home if you can avoid it. The cost of sending it away will be worth it to stop the mess and save months of time.
The whole car is now covered in Bonda prime which is a Zinc based product and should protect it while we do the metal work. The plan is to do all the small patch work bits which will probably be some of the hardest bits, around windows and lights etc. The bit that concerns me at the moment is the top wishbone mount on the driver side, it is badly corroded and will need to be replaced and as these are not available off the shelf I will have to fabricate one.
We have all the large panels but we still need to get a drivers door and a new deck lid. Now the really boring stuff is out of the way we will post more pics as the metal work progresses.

OK a quick update on the work last month. The body has had a good coat of zinc primer sprayed into all those hard to get at places and we have had a go at repairing the deck lid. It didn't look that bad but once we had shot blast it there were holes all over the place. I have looked at getting a better one from the states but they work out too expensive. here are a few pics of the work all the rust was cut out and at least we are back to something fairly solid but there is still a lot of surface rust inside the lid but we are going to coat that with paint and hope it holds it at bay for a few years until we get a better one.
