A great day as it was my first MMA outing. Like one or two others by the time we rolled off the track I was ready for the drive back home so sorry for not hanging around to say goodbye.
Brighton Steve thanks for being a good 'car neighbour' for the day, and humouring my 6 year old.
York only took 3 hours 40 mins so home for 10.20 pm. Therefore I may have to get some more of these long haul trips in.
In short a great day in great company, see you at the Euronats.

What a superb event!
So glad we drove up on the Saturday morning - no queues to get in, and plenty to see and do. Got some sunshine too. The Euro NASCARs put on a good show, as did "Bernie's V8s", which included a Sam Posey lookalike Challenger from Holland, and a howling Shelby GT350.
Got to meet "The Other Adam" and his Plum Crazy 70 Coronet R/T. What a beautiful car. I've had mine 15 years, and never had the opportunity to park up with another one.
Left the Cornet in the Mopar area over night (figured it was safer than the very tight car park at the Thistle Hotel). Had a very enjoyable dinner with Don and Brigitte in the hotel restaurant (and a bit too much to drink, if I'm honest). Had to restrain Don from heading over to the live band to meet AndyRob and co. on the basis that he would probably have got lost on the way.
Then a good night's sleep, a lazy breakfast, and sauntered back to the car at 10.30am on the Sunday. All very civilised. Shame about the wind-chill on the Sunday, but at least it didn't rain. Spent most of the day talking Bananarama! to the usual suspects. Good to meet Howard without his ski boots on.
I thought Don did exceptionally well to hustle the 'bird round the track at speed, and keep up with the NASCAR Cup cars. The 43 was undoubtedly the star of the show. Kids just love "Mr The King", and their eyes pop out of their heads when Don says "jump in" for a photo. There are lots of kids who won't forget that day.
The track parade was a great finale. The commentator said there were close to a thousand American cars on the track. Not sure about that, but it was certainly a lot. When I could see through the tyre smoke from Don and JohnS.
I posted a few photos on a separate thread, and I'll upload some more tonight. Got some video too.

I knew it would be a fantastic event. Totally gutted I couldn't get there.
I am more upset about missing this than I was backing into the mother-in-law (but don't tell wor lass that).
She seems to be doing OK it seems. They ended up just replacing the hip socket.
When the car shot backwards as I climbed in it seemed ages to me before I reacted and stamped on the brake. But everyone watching said they were amazed at how fast I stopped it. I thought I had travelled at least a yard back and probably she was under the car so I was amazed when I found that the car had hardly moved and in fact it was not the car that hurt her, it was her hitting the ground that did it. The car basically just gave her a shove and as she is unsteady on her feet she went flying.
We were having a fantastic holiday up to that point. Now it will be the only thing we remember about it.
Seeing Neil Young at the Arena in Newcastle tonight. We are not in the mood for it to be honest and having only had a few hours sleep the last two nights, combined with 1000 miles of driving over the last 10 days, I could do with a couple of beers and a good nights sleep.
