I thought I would wake up this thread and it would be re-titled :-
the continuing story of the PIT chapter 15.
Well those PIT fans out there will no doubt have followed the chapter of the Hoon and Toon at the local airfield where it snorted over 50lbs of drugs in one session that would be the equivalent of three drag meets in 4 hours.
Concern over the state of the power plant and the capability of the 6 pack rods to handle that 300 hp injection.
Well the engine was taken out thrown in the back of the trusty van and yesterday we tripped it up Norf.
Set of about ten in the morning to billy doo country.
4 hours later after diversions via the green cafe A60 and Sherwood forest due to a fender bender at junction 29 M1 we arrived at Dave's new pad and hoiked it into a very clean and organised workshop.
After the cuppa we proceeded to strip the head of one bank and oh joy it was clean as a whistle no sign of the dreaded detonation or eating of alloy.
Dave did say that it tends to happen quick so its still risky but fun.
Shocked a bit to find fresh oil in two of the bores.
Quite spell Thinks.
Oh that must have been when it rolled over onto its side during a high speed manoeuvre to get into the cafe car park.
So all agreed with the engine guru new lifters, scat rods, rings check the journals and bearings. bit of flowing on the edlebrook egg crate insides, repaint and another cuppa.
Andy Robbo turned up and gave us an update on BIG RED & LOAD which I will let him post about.
Off we go in search of a solution to solve the next possible weak link in the power train.
Stage two of our round the Norf trip meant crossing the trans pennine, is it realy the highest motorway in Britain?
And down to the potties well Crewe actually and yes you guessed it we arrived at Ducans about 6.30.
For anyone who has not been to Duncans it's actually the Alladins cave of Mopar.
I think Dunc must have about a third of all mopar components manufacture in the 60's on shelves under benches and hidden away in corners some where in his place.
If you want it guy,s he probably has it in spades. Top man.
Yes we had another cuppa and proceeded to load into the Van the reason we came.
Well actually Dunc and Adam did as it weighed in at about 300lbs and I have a bad back an absolutely pristine Dana 60 new hubs stainless brake pipes overhauled with 4.36 gears ready to bolt in and go.
Yes we saw the BIG BIRD oh my god sex on wheels does not do it justice and some other very tempting combos.
Thanked the BIg Guy and set of home grabbing some fish cakes and chips setting of for the Smoke via the Toll road where we thought £8 was a bit steep until Adam offered £10 and the toll lady returned £12?
Lucky git they actually paid Adam £2 to use there road finally arrived home at 11.30.
Just like to say thanks to Dave and Dunc for there hospitallity and
What a Great Day Out.
