reverse light switch is in the gearbox

you have a 2 core wire coming up the passenger side of the engine to the bulkhead connector

usually burns on the exhaust.

there are clips on the bottom front of passenmger foot well specically designed to allow it to chaffe through and short out

reverse lights just switches on the indicators at the back. MOT man don't care

PS wires you have in the boot

1) indicators
2) lights
3) brakes
4) numberplate light
5) on a 770 you may have boot interior light (thats what that little bump on the boot hole surround is for) a contact switch like the ones in the door jams.

as such i don't think there is anything specific for the reverse lights

because they are the indicator bulb. and they work with the ignition in the on position not just run

the reverse switch probably just shorts out both indictor earths to bring them on

in the same way the relay does intermittently to make em flash

does yours have hazzard warning lights? (mine doesn't)

if so it may well be different.

do your indictor bulb holders have 1 or 2 wires?

1 wire and they earth to the body at the light cluster and what i have said makes no sense 2 and they have a specific earth circuit that is switched up front for indicator/hazzard action and reverse switch action.

my guess is that the junction block behind the drivers side kick panel needs a check. its the route to the back of the car and gets wet if you had rust issues.

other than that a clean run of 2 wires from reverse switch up to bulkhead connector.

use rubber sheath across the under body clips and a section of tin foil or silver exhaust tape over the section where it crosses the passenger side exhaust header.

mines now a length cut from an extension cable the double insulation helps a lot

You don't need reverse lights, the ones you have were never fitted in Aus.
