Hi Pete

I am using a Milodon sump and it is quite tight. It sits slightly below the sump height, but shouldn`t be a problem for loading / unloading as it is in line with the front wheels.

Clears the k frame no problem so should fit a b/b set up. If it all works I`ll give you more details ( if it doesn`t I`ll keep quiet  )

Good stuff.
That does not look like an extended sump to me, hence my question.

Rack and pinion all in.

New brake master cylinder in.

150 hp nitrous jets on, retimed and retuned. New plugs + regapped.

A few more weight saving mods and " other bits and bobs " done.

Suspension travel limiters in, but if these don`t work they can be opened back out in 1 minute to allow original full amount of travel.

Hope to get the oil accumulator and lightweight wheels on before HRD`s.

;)

Jon, a stupid question, but with no inner fenders tieing in the frame rails to the top of the bulkhead / rad support how are you constraining vertical movement and twist in the frame rails?

Only asking on the strength of the most recent pics. :)

Clive

What a stupid question ( joking )

Am still using an original unmodified heavy duty k frame which ties the chassis rails together. The front valance / radiator support is still mounted on the frame rails and the wings are still supported at their front and back edge and along their entire top length via the original return edge.

The unibody floor is untouched .. I have only cut out the boot floor.

Car drives fine and no twisting to date ... don`t forget this is a short lightweight low powered A body

:thumbright:

Anton ... Don`t know about 9`s ... that`s pretty quick ;)

Andy Rob .. thanks for that info

Ahh, so a hole has been cut in the fenders as opposed to removing them. The top return must be just outside the pic.

Low powered? Joke, right?

This is what it looks like with the final 1.5" of front suspension travel locked out and wheels in the air ... I can easily disconnect it if it fails to transfer weight to the rear.

My thinking behind this is to keep the wheels pointing / leaning where they should be ( rather than something like Tig`s front end on launch )

Will have to see if it works or not ??? or where the ultimate setting between weight transfer and steering is ??

Haven`t stopped smiling all weekend

Run 1 - Soft launch then flat out to check the steering was OK.

Run 2 - Bit harder, went through the end at 133 mph and kept my foot in til about 150 mph ish

Steering was fine and I was confident in it. Refuelled, checked every nut and bolt on steering, recharged, cooled engine, and locked out suspension at 1.77" ( which I had calculated was about where it should be )

Run 3 - Gave it the big one, and pulled a 1.364 second sixty foot and kept in it managing to run 9.844 sec

The car is a blast to drive

;)

A big thanks to everyone who has helped me on this car and given me bits of advice and tips over the years .. I appreciate it and always take on board what I am told

Well done Jon so you got the nine you have been chasing.
