Stunning, one of the nicest Mopes I've ever seen

Gorgeous...love the wheels and that paint job is stunning. This is a VERY nice car Drew!!

Thanks guys, the hard work is slowly coming to an end, the windows will need some new parts, some just to brittle and they break when you remove them from the glass, and it looks like I will have to improvise with the window sweeps/guides.


But I did get a shot of the two e bodies

It's so shiny and because its black its hard to photograph I guess Drew? Are the bumperettes ( we call them overiders ) chrome Drew or black like the rest of the rear bumper?

Yea these cars will be difficult to get a good pic, I need a cloudy day and some under lighting.

The bumperettes are chrome and I like painted bumpers,so the over riders are black also.

The rear of the car will be argent to stay in the Grand Coupe theme,I think it will break up the all black rear, and give it a little bit of contrast.

Ok the details at this point are important.

Since I have the windows out, I found out something,

In 1970 they had a square nylon guide, and after it must have jammed up on most cars, in March of 71 they changed the square nylon guide to a round roller,and I found out on my mates 73 challenger, I rolled his window up with ease,he mentioned the change.

So he is my mopar guru and used parts supply he has probably 30 or so window regulators for e bodys, and we found a later model unit,

The channel the roller rides inside is wider than the earlier channels, so I am changing out the channel as well as the regulator, and I drilled out the old rollers and installed new ones shown in the pic.

I also found a little better piece of glass, the original had an inch wide full of rust scratch from the felt guide wore through to the metal , this glass is better and it is tinted to match the others, I was very fortunate there just to find tinted glass back in his salvage yard .

Now I have to get every thing lubed up with white lithium grease, and then the dreaded install

I have been told the dropglass is a nightmare to install - Alex Doig on here did mine and was swearing a lot, just the access for a long legged Manc is a challenge..........

Ahh success,they were not as hard as I remember,I was afraid I would scratch the glass so I taped it up but didn't really need it,I really psyched my self up for this one,it to me is the toughest job on these cars

but one thing I did and remembered was to keep everything loose,especially the two lateral guides, front and rear

I removed the top allen nut and left the bottom loose ,I put the front in first,and then guided it down the rear guide and let it slide to the bottom,and lined it up with the guide that holds the glass (phillips head on one end and a 7/16 bolt on the other)in and it worked very well,right away, the roller change/upgrade was worth it they really work much better and are effort less to roll up

I found these very nice black Gran Coupe door panels,and I also found some black rear panels as well so I scavenged the trim off the old , as well as the arm pad I dyed they black ,and now have matching rear panels too.

Ok after a nice holiday ,I did get something done,decent weather allowed me to paint the tail with some argent, the Wife decided it needed it and I actually like the look,
