Hi to all
The next update on the motor is, i contacted 440 source.com and to be honest the where very good and have gone 50% on the parts to get the motor back together,Jimmy at VG has stripped at no charge and checked the rest of the engine for damage, and is waiting on the new parts to rebuild the motor, so the wait now is for customs to play there game of silly buggers and release the goods.
I'll take a very hard look at the valve seats and guides on this next set of heads because of the difference in heights of the valve seats in the chambers seemed to be inconsistent, fingers crossed next update will be along shortly :read2:

On the subject of heads is anybody running 440-1 Indy heads?
I know the bigger Indy heads you have to run an Indy inlet manifold, do these ones take none Indy manifolds? :help:

I am running B1 heads with a B1 inlet manifold but don't understand what you are asking is it will the B1 manifold fit the 440 scource head?
Not sure to be honest but it is apart at the mo so can take pics if it helps you.

Hi Knightcharger
Probably didn't come across right,
Even though 440source are sending over another set of replacement heads, I might save those heads for my other engine, so i might upgrade to Indy heads, i know that i'll have to run offset rockers and there oiled from the back of the heads.
But does the 440-1 Indy head take any intake from other manufacturer's, the larger 535-something head and the 600- Indy heads have to use there own Indy head, as i understand it, i hope i've explained it better.

Swapping from a 440 Source head to an Indy head isn't that straightforward. The chambers are smaller for a start, if you are already running high compression, you might well find you'll be way over what pump gas will support. Indy heads have raised intake and exhaust ports, in your case I guess the headers will still fit. You would need and Indy Intake as well, not only are the ports raised but they are a much larger size too.

Thanks Blue,
I know your time is at a premium, at the moment i run on normal gas, although as a treat i run it on super, the pistons and heads come in at just under 10.5 (saying that its done nearly 80 ltr's of super unleaded) and it went on a trailer to Wheels day, so unless i buy an Indy tunnel ram i'm back to the drawing board :read2:

Yep blue is correct I can get 4 fingers into my intake ports they are much taller than most so if it is B1 heads it's B1 intake unless you get a hand made jobbie.

Ok latest update
All the replacement parts have arrived at VG, and i didn't get ripped a new arse by customs, so a bit of a result there, i've now started working on site in Chiswick so long days traveling or i should say sitting in traffic till Christmas, as soon as i can get to the garage i'll post some pics to compare the new heads with the damaged one's, to see if there's still difference's in the valve seats heights across the chambers, it'll be nice to get the motor back together and get it back to the dyno people, finger's crossed they'll be no more problems [-o<

Hi to all,
I thought an update was due, finally got going on the engine, Thursday night the main bearings were replaced and all torqued up, so hopefully the engine will be be flipped over and the new heads can be fitted next week, and hopefully see the motor back in the Coupe the week after, i'm working away in March for maybe a couple of Months, but i'm trying to arrange getting back for the bank holiday, Wheels Day and a local but a really good show Wyke Down, some of you might of heard of it, and for those that don't know Valley Gas where my car was built are having a Chilli night/all day drive in, with with a live band and Burlesque dancers a cracking night out the weekend before Wheels Day, so a good chance for everybody to test the car before hand.
So hopefully i'll update again next week, with some more good news :D

Hi R/T,

Real shame about this bad head skcollob.
There was a batch of heads that had 'SEAT DROPOUT' problems and some Hemi heads had the same issue too.
Not enough interference between the seat and the head.
We normally go for 0.004 for a small seat and 0.005 for a large seat.
Sometimes when the seat is driven into a cold head, a burr can cut the head and this results in less grip.

Hope to see you and the Beasty car at Wheels day this year?

Hi well after a big last push the engine is back in the car, all fluids are in and the motor was spun up to check oil pressure, which is all ok, I'm missing one spark plug and I need a new fan belt, so there on order, a job we couldn't do was connect up the shifter, to make life easyer in the future Jimmy will cut a section out in the trans tunnel and make a removable plate to get to the shifter linkage,
So fingers crossed it'll fire up sometime in the next week when the parts arrive, I'm leaving tomorrow to work in Holland for two months but I'll be back for Wheels day and the Wyke Down show in Andover, so hopefully see everybody there :thumbright:

Hi Everyone
Good news from VG the Coupe has been fired up and is running with no problems to report :thumbright: thats a big weight of my shoulders especially as i'm stuck out in Holland, not a lot i could do if something had gone wrong, i can't wait to get back home and drive the thing, Wheels Day and the local Andover show will help towards running the motor in, and hopefully the bank holiday will pass without any issues [-o< see you all at Rushmoor :thumbright:
