Lovely job!
Re: My very last restoration!!!
wow! those holes were way off
the timing chain looks better than most i take apart, normally slacker than a slack thing covered in slackness

Re: My very last restoration!!!
Haha
And it would seem it’s an original or an original replacement part,
The scary thing is the cam sprocket is aluminium and nylon !
And caused a fair bit of trouble back in the day ?
Just pulled the heads this morning,
This was a bum clenching moment as the car hasn’t been used for over 45 years !
Hav’nt cleaned it as yet but looks like original slugs
No obvious stamping of oversize etc,
Almost zero ware ridge up top, and seemly zero bore damage or scratching etc,
Which is very positive!
It has seriously large valves

Re: My very last restoration!!!
I had a 318 Mopar years back, that also had the same type of Cam sprocket. I wondered why it wouldn’t start one day. Found it had striped a couple of the nylon teeth. New chain & steel socket fixed that problemnewsatten wrote: Tue Nov 25, 25 10:38 am

Re: My very last restoration!!!
Got the sump off yesterday, all looks ok so far and pleased to see 4 bolt mains etc.
my bores all measured up as standard with about 2 thou of wear ,
So I probably will get away with a hone and some new bearings and rings ??
Depending on how my cash flow is I may bite the bullet and beef it up some, a stroker crank and a bore should yield around 488 CI
But it’s a genuine unmolested WS RA engine so may just keep it stock ?
Time to think over the winter

Re: My very last restoration!!!
i'd keep it stock, they didn't handle that well with the stock hp so..... at least get some miles under it and then if you want 'more' search out another engine to build up along with brake and suspension upgrades. just my thoughts, feel free to ignore me

Re: My very last restoration!!!
Yeah as it’s all matching I suppose it makes a bit more unusual, in the States these are quite sort after,
But here none of the above really makes much difference to it’s potential worth ,
Given prices are steadily decreasing it’s getting harder to justify increasing the amount these cars actually owe us !
Once I’ve pulled a couple of caps off and had a look, I’ll just ponder till the new year !
