That would mean everyone having to have a race licence etc.

The Nats is a RWYB event.

pete walton wrote:You guys moan about the rules is this fair hes got this well i cant afford that, I know its about trying to better your own times but you also cant beat close racing.Their is a lot of good 12 sec cars out there so whats wrong with getting lets say the eight fastest twelve sec boys and winner takes all or perhaps you all like to think your the quickest
I here what your saying fella, but the classes that run every year, are to find the fastest in that class....

The point i'm making here is, i think its about tacking part as much as winning....
This year i ran because i wanted track time and try and improve my 60ft times which i did :D

There was'nt a cat in hells chance of me winning with the motor i had, just wanted to take part :thumbright:

What was the fastest time in stock appearing? Was it the green Charger running 13s (or was that 'Stock'?)?
If it was 13,s its not an unattainable target for the right car, surely?

Miles, Stock Appearing was won by my mate, Mick Elsworth in his 68 Coronet with a 13.60...

The Green Charger is Glinn Biggs, think he ran 13.62..

My best was 13.86..

There is NO Stock Class at the Nats, Just Stock Appearing :thumbright:

Stroker motors with stock manifolds are not the be all and end all anyway.

I have seem plenty of stroked big blocks not running nearly as fast as my 440 and if you add stock manifolds into that equation then most strokers will probably not run any quicker in the quarter than a normal stroked engine.

I have entered OKOS every year I have had the Challenger at the Nats and never expected it to win. It never will either. but I will enter every time anyway because it is fun.

Now. Pete.
You can argue the toss about what kind of racing you want to see at the Nats as much as you want.
But you forget one thing. What happens at the Nats has nothing to do with you. Nothing to do with me. Nothing to do with the club.

The Nats is not run by the MMA.

You may as well organise your close racing at any other event. You will get just as far.

If you want to change the way the Nats is run you should ask the Nats Committee. They are the organisers. We have no control over it at all.

If you can set something up with them then I will run in whatever my car fits in. It makes no difference to me. :dontknow:

pete walton wrote:Ashely mate this is a very simple thing in my eyes if you wanna enter your car you can you dial it in and you get to race someone who you know is running the same as you that in itself will focus you more.If you had five classes restricted it to the 8 fastest in each class you could run the lot in no time at all and it would not affect the rest of the guys because your gonna have the same amount of runs .As for license's and all that Dave i am pretty sure that it would not apply this is not that serious ITS FUN
Pete all due respect here mate but it aint that simple, to organise something like that it would have to be sanctioned by the MSA, to be sanctioned everyone would need a race liscence, cars tagged, all the up to date safety gear etc, the fun would go out of the event, The Nats is a rwyb, to do bracket racing you would have to organise it with santa pod and ok it, the classes that are run at the nats are nothing to do with santa pod, Carl (Tim Holmes's son) or Tim take a seat at track side and note down all the times run by elligible cars through out the weekend, and then sort out who wins what, If you want to bracket race, why not enter a meeting at pod or shakey? If you want to race an evenly matched car to your own at the nats pair up with some one you know runs similar times, whenever we run at the nats that is what we try to do, it looks a lot better from the stands seeing cars pretty equal running together and not seeing one dissapear into the distance and have finnished before the other even gets to the 1/8th just my 2 cents worth

And i hate to admit it but Dave is right, the nats is not run by the MMA never has been, the MMA are affiliated with the nats and the Nats comitee are members but if you want to try and change the nats you need to speak to Tony O, Jim Wilson, Tim Holmes or Richard Berry i know Tim, Jim and Tony are on here, so maybe they'll see this and comment
