So that's likely to be a 70 on E body K frame, judging by the welded coin and if I can make out the specs.

So the engine mounts are very different as is the method of attachment for the steering box, plus of course the skid plate.

I must admit, I didn't realise they were THAT different from the stock K frames.

Steering box mounting is the same on V8 and Hemi "K" frame, as are anti sway bar fittings; the only difference is how the engine mounts locate to the "K".

Pete, I quote from the Hemi K frame manufacturer:

"The Steering Box mount has the correct threaded metal bracket the Hemi's came with not just nuts welded on like the other's"

Their punctuation leaves little to be desired, but they seem to know what they are talking about....

Fair enough - I just know the box bolted on without a drama in the same place....

Blimey, loads of input since i last looked.

Ivor, the welded 'coin' was added to all K frames from mid 1970 model year, - not just E bodies.

It's not just the K Frame that is peculiar to Hemi's. Just about everything under the hood is Hemi only. It is true to say that a Hemi car engine bay has more in commeon with any other Hemi car than it does with lesser engined cars of the same body type.

Pete and Jim.

Sorry for pushing you so hard I have been after this information for many years now and every time I have mentioned it on here, on my own message board, and on some US websites I have drawn a complete blank. It has always like trying to draw blood from a stone.
The "Hemi skid plate" was the only thing that ever came up but because 440s came with it as well that was not really a difference.

I was just not going to settle for "because I say so" this time. ;)

The information from the internet brought up in this thread was just not there even a few years ago.

I found mentioned on one site that there are 4 Challenger/B/E K's

1. Straight 6.
2.383/440.
3.383/440 with skid plate.
4.Hemi.
