there was/is a tubbed aussie charger in cambridge

was on piston heads last summer

its absolutly shafted now...rusted hulk

had huge wheels on the back
wheel aches cut

the owner redesigned the front end himself and made a dodge charger like grill. me I prefur the angry austin allegro look myself

rest of the body was typically crusty

had a checkerplate boot lid

decent rear wheels and a C by C front bumper

had 2 diffs one in the car one where it was supposed to be

I had some wheels off him

Hi, Mines not that fast but economy wise it does 25mpg which ain't bad but i would like a bit more power in the near future to go along with the sound. the power steering automatically steers to the right when the steering wheel is released also water is leaking from the block, its also leaks Oil & power steering fluid, The mail thing it failed on is the steering. Thanks Dave, I'll purchase that book tonight. One thing I've noticed about this car is that most of the public recognizes the name 'charger' & automatically presume that its a dodge & when i tell them its a Aussie Chrysler charger the look on their face is brilliant. I cant get over people taking pictures, I've also been told that every time i take the charger out i drive with a silly facial pose, i don't know if that's the same for everyone.

yeah that face is caused by the oil smell and the odd steering :)

ok your steering box is identical to a US one apart from the outer case

so seals are availble

i think you can adjust them as well.
get the tracking checked

you can fit a manual box (any aussie manual box or a RHD barracuda box will fit) howebver your steering column centre shaft will be the wrong length, you would have to bodge it, import one or borrow a few US ones to find one that fits length wise they are the same as some similar vintage US ones

the core/welsh plugs on the block could be leaking. a new brass set should fix that lets hope the ones behind the flywheel are ok.

lets hope its not cylinder head gasket

track rod ends can be had from Oz TWR do the best ones (Ebay is your friend)

pitman arm is rebuildable if you can weld and have a lathe to spin up a brass bush or just buy a new one again Austrlian parts suppliers can get one.

make it go faster......i can think of a chap who can tell you how to make a 318 fly

however i'd suggest if its still got the 2 barrel Carter carb made under licence by Email in Austrlia that it is removed and replaced with something a little newer and a bit bigger these were not big enough for the 265 so on a 318 they will be mighty resrictive. the ignition probably needs a look at as well.

your car will probably have 2.92:1 ratio rear axle especially if you are getting 25+mpg.

3:23:1 or 3.5:1 were options on a 770 and 3.23:1 would be a safe change if you didn't want to go changing anything else

derivatives of the axle was used in loads of aussie cars and the gen111 camaro/firebird so rings and pinions in rations from 2.92:1 up to 4.11.1 are relativly easy to come by but get the ring gear bolts as well. the shank size changed sometime in the 80s

Part of my problem was that I was always assessing how well I was with a very damaged brain.

I don't remember a thing about what you just said. Your sister came around to pick it up?

Actually. The process of typing that has jogged a slight memory of someone coming to the door. :?
She didn't come in or anything right? I think i do remember it a bit now. Professional looking woman? Dark hair? My brain might be making it up though just to fill the gap.

A good example of my short term memory loss is Diana's Dad passing away. It was the first week of July and I thought I was well enough to go back to work but her dads death meant we had to drive down to Surrey so she could be with her Mum and Sister.

Now I know this happened. But i don't remember anything much about it at all. The drive down (apparently I drove all the way there and back) or staying there for days or anything.
All I have of that whole week is one memory of sitting in her mums garden in the sun looking up at the clouds. :? You would think i would remember all the upset and visits to the hospital to see his body and all that wouldn't you?

It makes me wonder how much memory I have lost.
