I was always led to believe Shakey was better prepped but also quicker

This is where track experience comes into play or the ability to read the track conditions & set your car up to suit the track conditions.blown360 wrote:As a complete and utter newcomer to this whole thing how much difference in track quality is shaky to the pod? It seems from a spectators view theres a lot more track prep involved at the pod am I right?
Good examples being Andy Frosts 7.55 & John Sleath running 8.4 in the other lane, no special lane prep prior to their runs. It is no coincident that people with there kind of experience, constantly run good times, excluding motor issues.

They need to go and watch how the tractor pullers do it...its a different type of prep but they're just so much more organised and professional, between every run half a dozen tractors appear from nowhere do their stuff in perfect choreography and then disappear again all in the space of a couple of minutes...no messing about.latil wrote:Track cleaning at Shakey after an oil down was like a slow motion replayThey really need to get their act together.
Watching that one tiny roadsweeper inch its way up and down the track was painful
Shakey can never compete with the Pod, unless there is more money avilable. As i understand it the pod track crew are paid and have more toys to play with, while at Shakey they do it because if they did not there would be no track to run on. I was told on Saturday they get just £18 for a whole weekends graft, if that right i think they do a lot for very little.

Fair point..but it doesn't change the fact that we've paid to watch them do it...
how many people turn up for the first time then never come again because they were bored? not blaming the track crew as such but things could definately be improved...

Thanks for the plug treatment (car went slower - "B" body sabotage ????)

It was good to get more input, and the only way with up-jetting is to try it. It did not pay off but it might have done. The timing info was very useful. I learned and that was good, thanks for your help with it

Mmmmm.
The track crew may only get £18 but how many people paid there £18 per person per day to get in, lets say 1500 @ 30 thats £45000 plus 200 drivers @ 30 thats another £6000 plus the money from concessions say 20 @1500 another £30000.
so the weekend grossed nearly 100K and I saw no improvement in facilities.
Or does someone no different?
Or cant I add up.

Just over 10-12 years ago, a friend of mine stuck over a £100k into Avon Park when his business was doing real good.Knightcharger wrote:Mmmmm.

Even though a £100k seems a lot of money, on a facilty as big as Shakey, all the associated overheads, its just a drop in the Ocean.
I would estimate for Shakey to be a top class facility probably looking at £10 Mill
