Well it isn't Adobe and MS who are to blame Jeff, they develop the software for the OS. The problem is that when Apple upgrade their OS it's a major change to the architecture and NOTHING works, remember when 7.0, 9.0, OSX came out?

We've got a Mac here running OS 9 and OSX but it won't run any recent software.

(You can setup your PC to boot in different OS too).

Our office PCs are small HPs with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.67Ghz with 2 GB RAM.
Vista runs great on them.

(These HPs run much better (faster) than the DELL and RM machines we are used to and the build quality is outstanding)

We have not had any sofware compatability problems.

If memory serves me right Dave, it was WSFTP Pro, Nero and some more obscure utilities, there weren't many though, everything else was fine. :thumbright:

There are a lot of generic parts that fit Macs and PC

The new generation of Macs are easy to work on and fix. Apple now encourage you to open and replace, most parts slot in via guides and are totally idiot proof..

AND you can use whatever OS you want.

yep i'll happliy admit i probably am....haven't touched one for years....but i also have no need for one... and i'm a cheapskate at heart, trouble is PC is rife like a fungus allover business and higher education (schools still like a Mac)

a modern mac is probably a joy to work with and their notebooks look great.....but unless you are in publishing/media though no business will take the plunge... if apple want to be the desktop of choice they will have to relinquish their vice like grip on the patents and let the Chinesee crank out loads of sub standard copies.

anyone who does media work is better off with a Mac cos they can all support each other and the software works well

the rest of us really only want one for the Ive got a Mac Tag or interest.
ya mate down the pub aint going to have a clue if you turn up and ask for asistance....he might if its a PC

I cut my teeth on using a computer for a professional purpose in the mid eighties on a Mac (IIse I think) as the PC version of Illustrator was no where near as good. Up until the end of the 90's we all had a Mac for media creation and a PC for coding, testing and building. Then when I went back to working for myself I still had a Mac but there was no justification in the cost of running both, there wasn't anything I couldn't do on a PC that I could do on a Mac.

Lovely to use and have but not neccessary unlesss you're willing to pay for the user experience and a fashionable case.

Apple did open up the clone route many years ago... It nearly killed them!

Steve Jobs went back and closed that! the rest is history.

Anyway this is going to end up in Mac Vs PC post again... I am tired of that.

Oh yes, I remember that now Jeff. Crikey, this is like a trip down memory lane. I've still got my first Mac I bought for myself a IIcx, and a Quadra 950 in the box sitting in the office here. It's great looking back through the manuals.

Well yes, but not only do I think the Mopar looks better, it's performance is better. Also I wouldn't use it for delivering stuff/work.
