Some good info there, Dave. I'm mostly interested in all the deleted stuff I can't get on CD, but you've set me thinking now of the best route to go. :read2:

Dave R, forgot you have the luxury of a sondek, don't you.... Git!

I want one for Christmas... :D

Well technically it's Diana's.

She got her first LINN system with her compo a couple of years after a guy in a stolen car deliberately ran her down in the street to get the police to stop chasing him. She got the LINN Basik deck which was a cheaper option to the Sondek available at that time.

I bought the Sondek for her birthday years later to replace the Basik.

Only paid £350 for it. Then got the two-speed external power supply from ebay for something like £120? But sold the old internal one-speed power supply on ebay for £85 or something.
Then fitted the better quality LINN arm from her previous deck and a new LINN cartridge.
Finally we got a LINN pre-amp second hand for £300 and a good pair of ex-demo LINN speakers for £200? But sold her old 80s style LINN speakers for £90 to a guy at work.

Nice little system at the end of the day. :thumbright: :?

 Lordy! Not sure what to be more shocked about, that or some of the prices you paid for top gear! :thumbright:

My mate was a real Audio nutter.....we went out one night and got Well hammered,
Fell asleep on the sofa, later that night i got up for a pee, very wobbly and fell on to his concrete shelf, taking that, the sondek, valve pre amp and tons of other fancy stuff to the floor
Major expense, he took it well, cost me loads in beers for months to come

Clivey wrote:'Smack My Bitch Up' by the Prodigy is always a nice one to have on in the background Chistmas Morning, when the snow lays round about, deep and crisp and e-ven. :D
Not as incongruous as you might think Clivey. Try doing this in your Landrover... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1CeuA6MuedA
