Anyone running with nitrogen in their slicks to stabilise the pressures? Surely 12psi in the fire up lane is more like 14psi on the start line all warmed up? And in the sun in the fire up lane 1 slick will be hotter than the other, therefore more pressure?

I found the big slicks on the dart were very hard to keep stable.

It would be 8 psi in the pits and by the time I made it to the fire up lane before running they were up to 10 or 11.psi.

Not sure how wide tyres react to pressure changes...

Adam,

First of all ... you have my respect running numbers like that in a full weight street car.

I`m not running anything like you and not trying to tell you anything you don`t already know.

I use nitrogen at 10 psi ( fill and forget )... If you want to give it a go let me know and I can take a bottle and regulator to York on July 4th

Jon

Hey Dunc , thanks for the heads up on the vertor Bananarama! the dust shield , saved me pullin the other valve cover off.

:thumbright:
Don't forget the 'verter bolts can catch the back of the block too as Philth found out recently and I noticed when I dropped the trans off the other day.
Nice machined finish on the bolt heads now! :thumbright:

Think I might take a bit more off the heads before it goes back on though.

Tried this nitrogen recently and found that pressures still varied  :thumbright:

Hey Dave , you may want to swap the bolts out for the thinner head type , looks like you're using the flex to crank bolts on the flex to vertor , a fair bit of difference on the thickness of bolt head.

I am using the correct bolts Adam. Although these are new ones supplied with my TCS converter.

By chance I thought to paint the top of the bolt heads before assembly and it looks like only one of the bolts was rubbing hard. Two had some paint rubbed off. One had no paint rubbed off at all.

I will dress the back of the block just lightly with a sanding disc and then take a further mm or so off the bolt heads just to make sure.

Got some slicks to try out that Jon Ben kindly lent me , these have a 12" footprint which is around an inch fatter , hopefully they'll fit. :?
