its all a crock off horse Bananarama!, if the plates are basically right ie spaced correct and the font is near enough the correct size whats the problem,
dont pi22 me off with this no plate jobbie,
Anyhow , i lost me front plate @ the Pod , went down to the shop who do sign writing & got him to make me a silver on black plate with lettering any size i wanted , no paperwork either.
Got a £60 fine some years ago for having a metal "States Plates" type black n white plates on my Newport
It involved being pulled onto the hard shoulder of the M1 and me and my 8 year old daughter asked to step out of the car and sit in the cop car for a lecture etc
paid the fine and kept the plates onfor another year - till sold
bit my toungue at the time but wheres the sense in that?
i thought it was illegal and fairly dangerous to park up on the hard shoulder?
read this hole thread again, before ordering my 'almost legal' pair from states plates yet another 'stn' reg for the north east,
resisted buying some fancy plates for my ram, cos it would be an instant £30 spot fine from the regular camera van on barrington road or outside cramlington high school...... & would pass both on my way to work.....gits
I've just ordered stamped metal "Jap" plates for the Shelby from Platemyride.co.uk (a German company who take Paypal)
1" wider and 1/2" taller than US spec, but legal for imported cars as they have UK lettering on etc and they look pretty good all things considered, with a border 'round the outside and all

Thats where we got ours.
Took about 2 days (may even have been next day ) after ordering online
(The plates arent fuzzy btw, that's just the pic )
Hope I'm not tempting fate here but I've never had any troubles with my plates, and its not like the cars not well travelled and doesnt stand out either.
Cant remember when I last saw a traffic cop anyway, the lazy gits just sit back and let the "safety cameras" do the work. Seen the odd dark coloured saloon with lights in the grill though...
In the 650 or so miles I cover in an average week I usually see one traffic cop. Then I drove the Shelby to work for a couple of days with no front plate at all ... saw 8 of them in 2 days, none pulled me lol
