how / where was the fire started ?? looks high up , sad sight , charger don't look that bad from the pictures , one of the worst thing is the fire damage smell , if any of the car has burnt up inside !! !! ! get the charger out & pressure washed get that powder off if that is fire extinguisher stuff , some can damage paint !! causing more than just a flat & paint !! as it eats right into the stuff !! don't do nothing hasty , like throwing in the towel , get the charger cleaned up as best as you can & have some time away from the car !
sorry to say i'm thinking !! i wonder if its related to the attack you had a while back !! prehaps they saw you out & followed you back or something !! prolly not the case but makes you wonder !!

It looked so good at Wheels Day and I felt sorry that you had the day spoiled by a damn fuel pump....and now this! I couldn't believe it, especially after all your hard work. If someone did this deliberately they deserve hanging by the testicles for eternity. I hope you find the enthusiasm to carry on but who could blame you if you've had enough. So sorry Del

Looking at the photos again it looks like the damage is only skin deep.

When someone knocks you on your backside like this there is only one thing to do.

You already did that the last time.

Get up again.

You have to keep getting back up because if you don't the barstewards have won.

So pick yourself up, wash the crap off the car, and make an insurance claim. You could be back on the road in weeks.

It is only about an inch square, records sound and infra red at night. Might give you an idea on who is lurking about out there. You can upgrade to a 50m cable if necessary. I record direct to my Mac harddrive but you can record to a VCR or buy the USB capture gadget for a PC

Really heartbroken to see that, and I know (from experience as some on here will remember) how much you'll want to pack it in, cause it does seem like it's impossible to have anything nice that you put work into cause some piece of excrement will wreck it, burn it, or nick it.

But I can also say that it's worth not doing anything hasty or turning your back on cars. I walked away from my garage fire (also arson) with a 9/16ths spanner where I had a car with 12 grand and months of solid work in it and a couple of grands worth of tools. And it ate at me all the time - thinking about catching the scum that did it, or how if I'd done things differently and got it finished it wouldn't have still been in that garage etc etc. I was going to give it up but it only stopped eating at me when I had bought myself another project to think about.

It's taken a long time, but now I'm able to think about what I'm doing next on my new (nicer) Dart, how the hell I'm going to get my slingshot together before the summer's over, and what that rattling noise is on the Honda. It took time, but thankfully I didn't pack it all in, partly thanks to the support I got on here, and partly thanks to sheer bloody-mindedness.

But mostly because if I stopped doing the things I wanted to do, I would have felt like the pond life had won, and the satisfaction of knowing that they haven't outweighs all the grief.

Hang in there mate. The Charger looks repairable (again) and if not there'll be another one out there.
