There's a lot to be said for a having a well sorted quick car for daily use, battling with two tons of 40 year old Mopar muscle with manual steering and manual brakes and the novelty can soon wear off, unless you are a complete nutter!
The GTR is an impressive bit of kit, but a bit sterile, like the Audi R8 as far as I'm concerned for a regular quick car and I'd rather have Dunc's Bentley, an AM V8 or a new Corvette...I'm in for some stick now!

I was very impressed at the few cars that had power steering, and power brakes, able to easily run 12,s and drive em home very nice indeed to see thatIvor wrote:There's a lot to be said for a having a well sorted quick car for daily use, battling with two tons of 40 year old Mopar muscle with manual steering and manual brakes and the novelty can soon wear off, unless you are a complete nutter!

most everyone would notice you in that mick,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Mick wrote:Whatever rocks your boat.
I'd feel better driving an old mopar with a 318, than that skyline, even if it had a 1000hp.
Tell me how many people would notice you in that, take the turbos off it and tell me how quick it would go then.
Mick
sometimes we just need a reality check, if ever ybone in your body is old thats why you dont like this new era of superfast cars
me i love em all old muscle modern go fast cars, but i sure would not want to street drive an old yank any more, no disrespect aimed at those that do......
when i was on that start line with chris the legs charger i know nothin comes close to a hard chargin open header v8 but thats at the track where they belong,

I'm not knocking anyone who likes that and it's probably a thousand times better to drive but to me it lacks character.
My last road going mopar, didn't handle, wasn't breath takingly fast but it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling, everytime i went out in it.
When i was young, we used to ride bikes to the limit but now you cant really speed in many places, the govt has made anti speed and petty missdemeanours an obsession, it's like living in a police state, unless of course you're a real criminal.

With the greatest of respect that's what older people thought about Muscle cars in the 60s and 70s they wanted older cars or build there own RodMick wrote:Whatever rocks your boat.

however i accept there will be a day soon when young people will not want musclecars from the 60s they will think they are my Dads/Grandads classic.I want the Skyline or the Subaru i could not afford the insurance for when i was in my teens.[/quote]
Im 25 i have wanted the black charger from bullit since i was 17 i have work very hard and just got my charger. All my friends are running 500 hp + Skylines but there will always be one with the 60s yank

I agree to a point, look at the pics in the photo archives and it's a lot of the same people that are involved now, except that we're all old.
When i first got into yanks, they were everywhere and were 10 a penny, unless it was something special like a Challenger 440 r/t, anything less was between 2-800 pounds, mustangs often being the cheapest.
I still believe there's a certain allure though, maybe Dunc's a bit burnt out on them because he's had so many and a lot of nice ones at that.

That's great news mate

One thing we have going for the Muscle Car is they are still used in film and TV.What modern films use modern Cars? if you don't count the Italian Supercars i can think of Very few films or TV shows that use modern Muscle? i can only think of a few? for example the Transporter film has a Audi in it? thanks to things Like the Fast and the Furious/Supernatural tv show to name only a couple will keep kids wanting 60s/70s muscle
