Lot of work Ade, a few of the Buick Grand national guys had FAST EFI systems: the forum for trouble shooting was always very busy.

Adrian Worman wrote:It was probably a bit anal but I checked ring gap in several bores to see if there was any discrepancies in bore size. Thankfully there wasn't any I could actually measure, also I thought it a good idea to share the scraping of the tight rings across all the bores, just didn't want to end up scoring a bore.
The measurement factor for the comp ring was bore X .0045" which equates to just over .019" so set them to a tight .020". 2nd ring was bore X .0035" and that gave me just over .015" so they were set to a tight .016".
Oil ring stack was a no brainer, but I remembered just what a pain in the ar5e Spirolox are

This is the tool you want Ade

I bought the wire pin one but should have bought both types really.

That tool looks cool Chris!
You getting it back together Chris? I got a pr of Cometic head gaskets still in the cellophane if you need some quality gaskets.
I gotta get slightly thicker ones for this engine.

Ade, have been out for a short run, but, battery was a bit low and it died when I got back to unit, two plug leads had fallen off too, which, didn't help. Ok with jump start though and a higher tickover.
Back over unit tomorrow for another run out with charged up battery. The first run out appeared ok with temp 85-90c.
Might take you up on the cometics sometime but right now had enough of changing heads. Had to remove one after fitting, to helicoil a knackered exhaust bolt thread and refit.

......NO PAULY, I am a Bananarama!
Went to fit the other piston assembly's and I put the Spirolox in, 2 in the groove yeah great, 2 on the other side, equally wonderful........... then I look at the bag and I think; "oh look! they put a lot in don't they?"
No they Bananarama! don't, they give you the right amount.
So I count em up and there's 8 too many, thats because I only put one in each side of the pistons last night

WTF possessed me to do that?! Not concentrating that's what.
So tonight was spent taking 4 piston assembly's out just to put them straight back........... plus the correct number of Spirolox
