Looks like it is coming along.
Any surprises ?
Seeing your pics has reminded me.
I think I have some arm rests that will go with your trim colour, I seem to remember yours have slight damage
I'll dig them out of their storage spot when I have finished the final tweeks to my exhaust and tidied up the shed
So far nothing too unexpected - worst rust was down in driver's footwell where the metal dash panel fixes on the side. Bad corrosion there...!

NNNN
that is often caused becasue the plenum under the grill in front of the front windscreen is rusted out
it is supposed to drain through a small gap near the hood spring at the side of the chamber
all UK cars get blocked with leaves and its causes water to stand in the plenum around the plastic air vent buckets
it may be worth tin openering off the top plenum plate and giving everyhthing in there a good going over and coat of stone chip

Yes, Ivor I am now feeling pretty partial to the original blue hue...
As you suggest Dave I think a serious clearout of that plenum is in order. Dave, do I remember rightly that when we talked at Brooklands you thought you might know where a grille could be had?
have bits all over from when mine starred in a video and got smashed up and fixed up by the video company
going on what you have i think you just need a centre section
i have other bits as well so something can be sorted
you at the NATS
or if close TW2 5RW come round and we can dredge in the cess pit i call a garage
anything i give you will probably need a sympathetic vapour blast or hours infront of the telly with wet-n-dry but it should be straight

Continuing to make (slow) progress. Body is coming on well with most of the main work done.
eBay has provided us with a solid 360 engine that is now going to be refreshed back to rude health. It came attached to a 727 transmission which we were hoping to use but the output end of the box is obviously different (truck?). It had previously been in some sort of rod, but details are vague...
Not knowing much about 727s, I am hoping this box going to be usable in the Charger, assuming we can change the output end ? Any thoughts appreciated.
No updates for a while - we've been making gradual progress on the Charger though. Now have the 360 motor finished and that will be mated with the 518 box I got from Duncan - might need some advice there Duncan please...
Gone with a blue that is close to the original we found under the poor black respray; it is actually the Daytona Cobra blue. Roll cage fitted and now we have to get the drivetrain and suspension sorted - plenty of boxes of bits from Aus sitting around. New loom, clocks etc as well. Going to run on 15" wheels, possibly Torque Thrust is the current thought. Plenty of snagging still to go...
without one you will have a bit of trouble i'd guess becasue the distance from box to pinion on the axle changes as you compress the suspension
a 727 will fit a charger. it was part of the aussie police pack, K options, however i have no idea if there are A body and B body rear mount positions and you may need the cross member from an A body equipped with a 727 to get it in
it will also need a different length tail shaft the 904/4 speed manual one would be too long i expect
it should however not be an insurmountable issue aussies been doing it for years with small bock 727
the tunnel on your charger will have been split and widened with a big mallet on the production line to disguise the fact that the floor pan is an early 60s pressing and they needed it to match a bulkhead with the later sized tunnel hole.
and of course the slightly smaller 904 was standard fitment on anything with 8 cylinders in a charger same or similar sized smallblock bell housing.
six cylinders got a toughend up Borgwarner 35
the auto 4 speed/5 speed later boxes with box number begining 5 are a bit more of a fiddle and might involve cutting out the hump* in the chassis above the bolt in cross member
*replace it with something else
use a US starter with a US box and US torque converter otheriwse teeth mis match might occur
That box
someone else will be along shortly i'm sure to say why its like that
