Youre dreamin Dave!!! My kids dont know what a book is let alone my grand kids!! If its not on You tube they will never see it! I settled down with a pint of old speckled hen and a book called 'Hot Wheels-The Redline Era' the other night and they took the Bananarama! out of me big style.... I still havent heard the end of it  :read2:

Only kidding mate.... Thats a really good point, Im like you, I love black and white 'period' style pictures, especially of any mechanical parts etc, and interiors look great in black and white! Only trouble is, I dont think they would do some of the gorgeous cars Ive seen justice. Also, I can honestly say I wouldnt be anywhere near the position I am in with my car if it hadnt been for help from members on this site. I got a reduced entry to Garys Picnic, some great parts/ tyres etc for car at a great price etc so I personally wouldnt complain if the membership fee doubled as MMA is an essential part of me being able to use my car and not feel alone one those wet saturday mornings when car playing up and I just need a quick bit of advice. I know not everyone feels the same and I do feel a bit guilty that I dont have enough knowledge to put as much in as I get out but hey, maybe I will in a few years time.

Mag is great and Im sure whatever format it ends up taking, the quality and professionalism of it will remain as it is.

Cheers Steve

A printed magazine will not last and will probably not be read in the future like you say. So why spend money on something most people put in the bin after a quick read on the bog?

Which is why a colour online PDF version would be a VERY good thing. Always there if you want to re-read it and will last generations.

Well put, however my mags dont end up in the bin,( I keep all my MMA mags) I donate most of them to charity, for some reason under privileged,or with handicap kids like to look at car mags

,there are a few charities that do this, but this is over here, not over there,

I personally love getting a post from "Royal mail" and need the mags for my library, with a toilet and a shower............I dont want to drag a lap top in there now :read2:

Well what we should do is publish the paper one on soft perforated paper strips so it had a dual use in the toilet and then the colour PDF for all other occasions.

My lad says it would be a shame to lose the mag but he would be just as happy with a PDF version. He loved the model car feature this month and he also said would make sense to maybe pay a bit more every year to pay for the magazine. 11yr old logic sounds good to me!

Correct me if Im wrong but would a PDF version mean we could have 'limitless' photos or is there a restriction on server space? If its limitless then maybe we could include detailed engine bay shots, and maybe members could submit detailed step by step photo strips of jobs they have done, bit like the US mags. Just food for thought maybe.....

Dave, that made me laugh. :D

A lot of people are skint at the moment and the subject of subs comes up regularly, (at least once a year  ). Gut feel is if you raised the subs to fund more colour or whatever, more members would let their membership slide. I wouldn't, but I think some would.

Personally, I think it's a great club mag and very well put together, very nice to have, but I get more from the board.

There is a restriction on server space unfortunatly. That is not to say that more space could be found. For example I have server space both at Virgin and 1&1 that I don't use. The club could have that.

My own meaasge board has unlimited space. And by unlimited i mean unlimited. But that is by special arraingment with a Challenger owner in Finland that now runs my board for me for free as well as Barry Washingtons excellent Hamtramck Registry.

PDF is a great idea Dave but don't forget there's a good proportion of members don't (appear) to use 'puters

I am willing to Give up my future copys of Connected to help the club out, send it to someone without a PC.

The PDF should be current issue only, delete and replace with next issue to keep server space down.

Why? I have already offered server space. Even if the committee insited (as they usually do) that server space has to be completely under their (and only their) control, then it would still be cheaper to expand the storage space rather than just waste money printing colour just for the sake of it.

I mean, does it really make a big difference if a photo of a bunch of middle aged blokes grinning around a Charger is in black and white instead of colour?

And yes there are members that don't use a computer. But they are a deminishing number and I was not suggesting getting rid of the paper version. I just don't see the point of investing money into something 90% of the members eventually put in the bin. Investing money in something that will last forever makes a lot more sense to me.

Ah do what you like. I'm w a y past the point where I gave a monkeys. :sleepy2:

Interestin points being made.

I actually quite like the idea of an electronic version.
Unlike some though i like to keep the mags i've bought over time, and only bin when my tastes change. Still have all my connected mags from when i joined and a lot of Classic American Mags from the mid 2000's.

Would be great if you could get a colour version in PDF format, then people can download and keep on there own computers or bin.

Should also help the extra space on the server as these can be superseded when the next edition comes out.

Can then print out at work if i want a hardcopy......... :-$ :thumbright:

If you went down the digital route in addition to the hard copy you could open up more revenue by using someone like Amazon to publish the magazine. This way they deal with all the space requirements, as a bonus to this they would handle the subscriptions for the digital copy and this would also open the magazine up to Non-Members. Drawback of this is that current members may have to pay an additional subscription to get the digital copy too but as the magazine is being produced anyway this could be a very little charge. Just throwing this out there. :thumbright:

Now that I have my latest issue it is a great mag for me,

but in these times cost is a major factor, since I am so far away cost of shipping to me is almost 5 bucks so I can do the PDF version and enjoy it just the same.

I do get a kick out of it when my mates pick it up thinking it is from the states and after a few pages they ask .........where is this from? fun stuff for me :thumbright: :thumbright:
