Here's a plan hatching, would need approval by the Euronats though?

They could have there own bracket. As regards VW caddy's etc, why not make the RWYB invitational, then the cars could be vetted and the cream will come to the top, maybe have a set fee lower than the 3 day fee but higher than one, say £40.
The Nats is a great event and the organisers do a great job, so no blame should be laid at their door for a few small failings but a few tweaks here and there could get it back to the sucess it was in it's inception in 94.
Personally, i'd much rather watch Brian's critical cuda than an electrician's work van. Lol :thumbright:

If you did have a 9.99 - 12.99 class

Surly you would have a 8 second car enter and take it easy or run some sort of electrical system to get a perfect 9.99

Is that the skill ?? Imagen really hard to judge a 9.99 in a 8 sec car

Like trying to guess 130mph ;)

Would there be any limits on make model shape bike ;)

Why would an 8 second car bother with all that $$$$ spent?

ok, but what is the point of another race class, and I could see it being a 32 car field or more at 12.99 cut off.......this thread is about Pro-Mod and Top Sportsman classes at the Nats and whether they should have them, aren't you just making it worse with another class that will sideline the RWYB'ers?......or have I missed something here?

Yes Brian you can. It is a one off and not part of any championship and is open to any door cars running 10.00 or quicker.
That sounds very tempting ......

If you can't beat them ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
And you can go home with money :D I got £175 for getting to the semi final in the bracket race, cost £135 to enter which includes drivers entry to the site and signing on fees for all 3 days :thumbright:

The people in this class are rwyb now, we are just putting them in a class and yes it probably would be a 32 car field. If they get knocked out then they can move to the rwyb. This event should have had these classes years ago. If it had been in the states it would have done.
I can live with the promods and top sportsman cars but VW Caddy's, fiat pandas and skoda pickups at the expense of a Dart swinger, Brian's cuda and James from Norwich's BB Chevelle, is a real shame.
I would happily pay £135 for the weekend, if my car could run nine's i would have gone in the top sportsman.

If it's bracket racing Wil, you dial in your time and the faster car's green light is delayed so that theoreticaly you reach the finish line at the same time. If you finish quicker than your dialed in time you lose. The driver with the smallest difference between their actual time and dialed in time wins.

ah ok

so is that green light delayed on the tree

or some how in the car

On the tree. The slowest car in the field can win, if you can cut a light, drive the top end and make your car repeat you have a winner.
Turnip was one of the slower cars in his class but he still got to the semi final.
BTW Congrats Jon if you're reading this.

I don't really want to see much changed here..... cept the obvious crap like letting a van down the track, a the expense of some proper muscle by the sound of it

It's a big event, loads of people show up, with loads of differing opinions, so let everyone have a go, that's what we all paid for after all.

I love watching pro mods, I love watching any drag racing, and I love having a go too, I think the only way you'll police the event is some scrutineering like at Shakey. But where do you draw the line? I don't wanna see a 300C diesel run as much as I don't wanna see a VW van, but it's American and so is the 05 Challenger owned by some other guy that I'd like to see run.

At the end of the day you can't please all the people etc,etc but I still think they got most of it right and I'm well happy to relive last weekend right now!!!
Who's up for it? 8-)

It could well be that the newer ones to the Nats would dislike how it was originally, yes things move on, no one has control of what maybe called "Progress" but I would like to see it for American Muscle cars of their day as it was. That is why I joined the MMA for, not non American iron.

Now the only problem with that is if it changed back to that it would need to be supported and used as in time past it has been commented the track was not being used by the MMA rwyb cars, so it would all start off again, ie use it or loose it.

I am not sure about the numbers but the amount of American muscle fast or not did not seem to be as many as previous years in the lanes (mine was not there either due to problems)

I am pleased that overall people seemed to have a nice time, thats the main thing in the end.

I think for me it just comes down to track time for the regular yank owner. As I said on the other thread its my preference to see the average man trying to beat last years times by adding parts and tweeking the timing. Not a winter £75k engine rebuild!

To have both Pro-Mod and Top Sportsman is too much across the whole weekend. So I'd say either one on its own would be better!

If both are required for ££ could it not be that they only run Fri and Sat and then leave Sunday to Show n Shine and RWYB..............or run them all at 10-11am and again at 7pm-8pm leaving the main part of the day as the show was originally intended!

If the POD could then sort dumping out anything that is not American or Australian then that would be perfect!
There are plenty of other weekends which are Jap and Euro/VW orientated!

Just my 2p! :thumbright:
I agree with Dave, although I did enjoy some of the Pro-Mod etc but thought a lot of time was wasted with the Oil downs but that's the way they are, which is okay if its an event of their own but not so fair for the average RWYB guy. Still this is just the first year and a little tweaking may make a big difference? My only fear is the Pod decide the Pro-Mod and Top sportsman classes are popular and start increasing them so pushing the RWYB out the window, time will tell I guess. The answer will be with future attendance. I do agree with losing the Jap stuff and the burn out competition.

Loved all the racing except the non yank stuff.

As already said....keep it to American/ Aussie stuff etc as the hot hatches have enough RWYB events already.

How can anyone not get off on Andys run!!!

Oh, and can we make an exception and keep the yellow escort....wild and at least its the right colour!! :thumbright:
