I'm with Dunc. If you want to do it then go for it. I agree with challenging yourself. That's what drives me. It's all about the journey, learning something new and the satisfaction of being able to say "I did that"!!

Sometimes you have to follow your own path even if it there's an easier way.
The guys on here mean well- they've generally made all the mistakes you're about to make and are trying to save you all the pain!
Best of luck, it's going to be ace :D

Well after two years of ownership were off, I wont post up the restoration work, just the modifications and the V8 parts of the build .

The plan is to use the rear axle prop and box from the mustang then mate that to the 318, that part of the build won't be for a year or so.

I will just be making the shell solid and MOTing it for this year, while striping the mustang for parts . Ohh!! If you do know anyone with a 1999 SN95 Mustang and ant any parts let me know

Just a little update for the cortina people out there :rr:

Been busy welding and welding oh! and welding recently. So nothing too exciting to report :?

I have been playing around with some wheels though. :D I bought some 8 x 14s slots but the tyres don't sit right,
So have decide to go with steel's, I want them as deep as I can get them.

Ive taken the middle out of some 7 x 14in american wheels turned them round and trial fitted some 14in sierra centers. This is not the final wheel as they will be 5 stud, but just wanted to see haw much I will have to bring the wings out to accommodate the wheels.

hi we've spoken on rodsnsods a few times. seeing the pics of the car jacked up with the wheels on had you considered doing a hirider/street freak? basically spacing the front and rear suspension/axles down which will give you much more engine/gearbox room to fit the 318. i've done a few granadas and cortinas and it's pretty easy. just a thought you may consider?
cheers, neil.
ps the bodywork's looking better mate. :thumbright:

hi mate,
the gearbox in the pic looks like a truck box. be aware it may have a 'crawler' first gear (very low ratio) with a big jump to second. that and it's size wouldn't be good for a car. maybe adapt another box to your bellhousing etc, shouldn't be hard.
neil.
