Horsham AmeriCARna – Wet Weather Plan – Town Only

Based on the rain we have already had and the forecast we have taken the decision to cancel our Park based displays on Sunday 29 September 2019.

Whilst disappointing for all of us we are determined to ensure that we provide the best and safest event experience possible for you as participants and visiting public alike. We can no longer do this with the weather in view and likely park conditions as a result.



Join the Great AmeriCARna Cruise Out

Notwithstanding this, we would like to invite you to join us and enjoy the event in the following way:

To join the Great AmeriCARna Cruise Out from 4pm by starting at the Hop Oast Park and Ride – just off the A24 – see map and reference below.

We will have traffic management staff on location to help you join the cruise out from this rendezvous point providing you are there before 4pm.



Join us all day?

As well as town car parks we have a Free shuttle bus operating from the Park and Ride to the town centre and back from 10:30 am (in addition to the scheduled paid 98 service) with returns before 4pm to enable you to enjoy the event in the town centre and return to your car in time for the Cruise Out.

We hope you appreciate our need to make this ‘call’ early enough to put a plan B in place and hope that you will join us on the Cruise Out or at next year’s Horsham AmeriCARna on Sunday 27th September 2020.

I appreciate that they've made an early decision, but I do think they're being over cautious. Other events (e.g. at Goodwood) go ahead regardless of the weather, and they lay down interlocking metal sheets in areas where it might get muddy. I suspect their Parks and Gardens department have over ruled their Events team because they don't want any tyre marks on the grass.

I think I'll decline their kind offer of parking our classic cars at the council tip and getting a bus into town, then returning to join the 'cruise out' (to where? ) at 4pm.

Shame this, I was looking forward to it.

I second that.

They managed to find room for 2 small clubs though totaling around 15 cars, he told me on the phone that we can have a good spot in the town next year, I'm so excited.

Bonus,, you can all do some wok round the house or something else constructive instead,
