What makes you think the tag has been altered Tyreman? Looks fine to me. These cars weren't valuable enough to warrant mucking about with tags 15 years ago. I wouldn't worry about it 8-)

I am sure the details on the tag are correct but there is something about the stamped letters I feel funny about. It may indeed be a reproduction. But that does not mean it has any fake codes on it.

When did they start pop riviting the tags on? It should be self tapping screws I would have thought?

Maybe the last tag was nicked and the owner didn't want the same to happen to this one? :?

That photo of Adam's is not the right blue for the car. It's too dark. TB3 is certainly lighter than the blue in that picture. The way Mopar codes colours is the numbers run from 1 to 9. 1 being the lightest and 9 being the darkest. So TB3 would be a light colour.

The question is: Is TB3 Petty Blue?

The T is what puzzles me. The first letter of the paint code generally denotes the model year it was first used. If it was a 1972 colour it would begin with H. T tells me it is not a colour originating with Mopar.

So is it Petty Blue?
Perhaps Basin Street Blue, or Super Blue, are also Petty Blue?

Come on Adam or Alex. One you must surely know.

Oh. And I didn't think that any Chrysler colour matched Petty Blue which is why Petty blue cars had a 999 paint code?

That's right Dave. Petty Blue always had a 999 paint code.

Do you know if the 999 paint code (which could be for any non Mopar colour) was changed to TB3 for Petty Blue for '72?

Basically, did Petty Blue have a new code and name for 1972?

It certainly looks possbile going by the colour chart you posted.

You could be right Jim.

There was no B3 in '71 and in 1970 it looked completely different.

Petty blue, actually corporation blue was re-named Basin street blue and given a paint code later on, his car is correct, BTW that colour is actually Ford Grabber Blue or whatever it was called, Richard confirmed this a while back 8-)

That's funny Dave. There's a few colours missing from your 1971 card.
Like FJ6 Sassy Grass Green and GY3 Curious Yellow to name but two of my favourites.
