Linda thought it really was a dead mouse.

It is a lump of melted ally that had pooled and cooled on the intake.

While I am here I may as well post some photos of the center carb now it is finished.

Just working on the outer carbs now. They are much more simple and should not take long.

Looks fantastic, I'm curious though,
how long will that paint stay on like that ?

Surely the mechanisms will scrape it all off ?

Surely not nothing is in contact with the body and only minor scraping on the linkage that would be about it i think.....heat may have an effect though ?

Yeah sorry, it was the linkages actually on the carb I was meaning.

Whenever I do something like that it looks great but doesn't last too long. Maybe I'm using the wrong paint or something...

I was wondering that myself.
I have told Tim I can't say for sure what will happen. But there are very few contact points where parts will wear and if the paint is not efected by spilt fuel we will be OK.

I have fuel proof paint but the colur looks awfull.

I have made a start on the outer carbs. I start with a wire brush before stripping them apart. After these photos were taken I took the fuel bowl off and it was a right mess inside. The gaskets all need replacing. I have some that will fit but they are not quite the same so some holes in my gaskets will have to be cut etc.

Believe me. It does not look bad at all in this photo compared to how it looked when I got the fuel bowl out. There was a lot of white powder type of corrosion. It took a lot of effort to seperate these components.

Dave cast your wistful eye over this 6 Pak set up, i procured during a parts swapping activity.
The problem is it has a cracked housing, i have not taken it apart yet this is how i got it, seems ok except for the crack, which i would gather has happen due to the air cleaner stud that must have been knocked or caught.
It has been repaired, but not properly by the angle of the stud.

As you have one apart is there any air passages or the like that might affect the running of that carb ?
It is not completely broken off but the metal is obviously twisted and the repairer did not try and force it back incase it broke right off, that may have made the repair easier though.

What do you think from my avarage pics of the damage ?

There is nothing there on that side a crack will hurt. I would be tempted to repair it if I was any good welding ally with anything other than gas.
