Pete duly turned up and a short walk across the square and down a short alley led us into the local garage workshop and what a delight several clasics sitting there being worked on and several well known cars that are used at the Goodwood cicuit, an old e type part stripped places like this are rare.
Pete introduced me to the owner who had the air of a retired army officer a true gent who had served his apprenticeship in this very garage and now owned it.
Throwing back a sheet the Smitty sat quite at home among the other classics sleeping around.
The notch back cuda just oozes 1970 Califonia and the work Pete has had done is in keeping with the patina the car carries.

The car has the stance the rear end is cut in a way that just looks right and with over 700 GG's and weighing in at 2700lbs it it going to go like it was stolen.
The offer of breakfast did not take a lot of thinking about and after saying goodbye to Alan we wandered back across the square to a Little cafe that was in keeping with the town and period, ran by the cheeriest couple of ladies you could wish to meet.
The talk slipped into Pete's second love spannnering for Champion nitro driver Dave Wilson
When you realize the effort these top teams put in between every run makes you feel like an amature and £2000 fuel bill for a meeting is my entire budget for the year.
Anyway big thanks to Pete and his wife for there hospitality and the wiring loom at a give-away price.
PS A little bird mentioned that the Cuda may get to stretch it legs sooner than later.

Paul of Southern Axles Ltd popped in and checked the Dana 60.
We removed the crown wheel and locker, re-shimmed the backlash and bolted iyt all back in after checcking with a DTI,so that's another step in the right direction.
Just have to re-fit the half shafts and cover and the jobs a good un.
Must remember to re fill the oil.

Thanks Alan sounds like you had a good day, we did the last of the welding today, front brake pipe tags, a Little bit of the body work, a stabilizer for the brake peddle box, the parachute release bracket and the seat belt anchors.
Also had the dash punched out for the dials and some brackets for the bonnet hinge front bolt, which needed additional supports as I have removed the inner wings.

Today was harsh but fruitfull finally got the engine bay ready and dropped the engine and gearbox in the car.
As it was the first time hadf to work out the angles and the best way to do it.
The fact that one of the holes in the trans shield did not line up and under the car it was a bitch but finally removed the front K/H plate it went in and all the mods fitted together nicely.
Few pics here
