just had a look at the numbers on my heads they are 360 heads are they better or just cheaper the reason why they are on there?

If they are 3418915 then they were 340/360 heads for 72. If they are 4071051 then you have a pair of smogging door stops.

I'm not sure if the 400 heads are better or not, but i have a pair spare

The 400 heads will not fit a small block , Si if you have got 915's they were 340/360 heads fitted to the 340 from 72 on but will probably have the smaller 1.88 intake valves unless someone has already fitted larger valves . The good thing is they are for unleaded fuel. I had these on my Barracuda untill I got some J heads which had the larger valves and slightly better ports. HTH
