Sandy. The Oz 2bbl is just a Carter and was standard on US 318s as well. The 318s are the same too but a remote filter was needed to make room for the steering box.

I noticed on Dave's car that it had 'Made in Australia' on the side of the carb, plus it looks nothing like the carb on the Monaco.

Also, I wondered if there was a fitting, or mounting point for the remote filter on the stock manifold. It was difficult to see due to the booster.

from what i can remember Sandy they were metal pipes, flow and return with oil filter mount on top, dont think they were fixed to the manifold, got sick of wiping the oil of the engine every time i changed the oil so i put a remote filter in from speedflow

There is a plate which fixes the remote filter to the manifold by 2 bolts at the back (those two random holes that no-one knows what are for). On mine when I went to an eddy manifold I found the castings for those mountings were too tall (on the eddy) and I had to cut them down in order to use the original steel pipes. Aside from that I think the Aus 318 and US one are identical in the inlet department.

The carb is shown as a BBD made by Email, I assume this to be a local copy of the Carter (as found with other ancillaries).

Edit: Dave, I was going to pop around last week, but spent most of the week driving up and down the road to police stations in Northumberland and Durham. But, if its sunny in the evenings, I assume you will be working on the car this coming week. When is Dangerous going to start the welding ? I would like to see some of that ?

I've had single plane and dual plane on mine, but mine is the earlier oil filter set up, a big cast thing that acts as part of the alternator mount as well. (Note Email voltage regulator and alternator! ;) )

Hi Kev,

The alternator on the Charger is a Lucas UK one. But the regulator looks familiar.

Are those the threaded casting holes that James was talking about at the back, that he had to cut down ? James ??

All the best

Reckon so, but surely Vic didn't put 'em on there for the limited Oz market? :?

I forget if you have the H51 option on that car or not. If you do you need green tinted windows (which are hard to find), if not then the clear glass is ok.

there seams to be several subjects on this thread now, but on the subject of remote oil filters mine fitted OK with my Edlebrock performer inlet manifold.Sorry the pictures blurred i can`t be bothered to go out to the garage again and take another photo.
