Very easy fix. Plus it is probably just a bad connection in the bulkhead connector or somewhere else along the line. Which I told him to check before buying new parts.

A wealth of info on the board, just get used to using the "Search" facility" at the top of the page.

As you know Dave Ive lost some water with draining the water jacket when I loosened the exhaust manifold ...So I can top that up via radiator if I remember correct... but Ive also taken off the valve cover gaskets the rightside one was toasted on so Ive no gasket for that side, please advise what can I do, I want to try your idea with the wiring in the bulkhead but Im a bit nervous firing it up, what effects will it have on the engine if I do it?

You could just check that you have power to the coil with the ign on, you can use a test light, if no power follow wire back to see where your losing the power to the coil? ( just a quick check)You wont need to fire it up just check with ign on.

I'll have to go out and get a tester then and try it...

Talk about your bad look....I was looking over all the connections and I found a couple of wires connecting the ballast resistor loose so I redone those and hit the deck to make sure the starter connections were ok, I was tightening the nuts and the smaller nut sheares of in my hand..I couldnt believe it, Now I have to take of the starter and take it apart to fix it!!!

It wont best me I tell ya!!!;)
