Would think the twelve :1 bled off far to much D/C , where as the 9.5.1 is the opposite , long durations are a band aid when running pump gas on high compression motors.

Quench is a critical factor regarding detonation.

The O/L period had no bearing on dynamic compression , tis the I/V closure point , a tighter LSA could could fair better than a wider LSA , depending on duration.

have you been quoting all this speccy type stuff to dave bil adam you will boil his brain, he is old school set off high comp pistons big roller cam dommi and lets see what it does

I was talking to Rob Loring at ICE about compression a few years ago. He told me all the street eliminator engines he builds have 12.1 static compression, all run happily on pump gas. As has been said the "secret" is the cam spec, the point at which you close the inlet valve will dictate the dynamic compression ratio, and that plays a big part in determing the octane requirement. Tight quench is also desirable.

Asked Dave a few times regarding cam selection , also talked to a few others , but no one wants to talk about this 'voodoo' subject (more like not wantin to share ), sooooooo , got some info meself , least i'll know the cam for the stroker will be right , as opposed to using the 'guessing game' or 'one that fits all'.

Back to me book.
