The track crew may only get £18 but how many people paid there £18 per person per day to get in, lets say 1500 @ 30 thats £45000 plus 200 drivers @ 30 thats another £6000 plus the money from concessions say 20 @1500 another £30000.
so the weekend grossed nearly 100K and I saw no improvement in facilities.
Or does someone no different?
Or cant I add up.
Just over 10-12 years ago, a friend of mine stuck over a £100k into Avon Park when his business was doing real good.
Even though a £100k seems a lot of money, on a facilty as big as Shakey, all the associated overheads, its just a drop in the Ocean.
I would estimate for Shakey to be a top class facility probably looking at £10 Mill
Was that Brian Burrows ????

It was Alan, he & his partner (dont know the name) owned the Lonsdale VW garages at the time, also sponsored the Lonsdale funny car.

That will be the one! My two favorites of that period are the Lonsdale car and the Vallance Lovett McGee quad cam fueller.
Bit of a hijack going on, sorry

The thing is, the HRD's always has a large attendance race wise, couple that with the weather conditions and a lot of people entering untried cars and you have a recipe for track problems.
As said before, you can throw a lot of money at a drag strip and still not see a noticeable difference.
