Mick i think those plates are still on the inner tubs, im will have a word woth the chap who has them and see if he is going to be using them.
db the front is strange struts, thats my next task :scratch:

latest update, the front end is proving to be a bit of a headache (as i anticipated) ive been on it for 2 days and still not done, this is how it looks now, all lower arm mountings tacked on and one strut set ip in the correct position, i now need to finalise the position of the frame and manufacture brackets to hold the top of the strutt (and if anyone sais that they needed a 8x15 chrome 8 spoke i will shoot them , its now totaly knackered as its welded to my chassis jig :D )

Nice thread this....quickie Trev, was it tricky movin the body once the floor was gone...flexing, etc.... were you worried about damaging the roof ?
heard horror stories doing this

exactly the oposite, i needed to flex it to get it off the floorpan and also to get it over the tubes i had in place, it wasnt easy (big levers needed to get it off the floorpan and a wiggle and push to get it over the tubes) i have left as much strength in it as possible including all the roof structure and all internal sheet metal that i can (all this will be removed after ive finaly fitted it the body to the frame) it probably helps that the shell has zero rot so is extrenely rigid and just dosnt flex at all.
as for moving it that was easy, it only took 2 of us to carry it to the garage and 3 of us to lift it into place (the floorpan i took out was heavier than the body :lol: )
so are you looking at a similar project :thumbright:

its not that bad, i would recomend a tube notcher, obviously your going for a strait tube front axle thats cool, same basic frame just no stupidy awquard suspension angles (maybe i should do that on the dart :D

its taken 2 days to fabricate the strut mounting plates and noch the tubes so it all fits correctly, im quite pleased with the way its gone. i had a play and bolted the brakes on to see what it all looks like and threw a wing on to see how much clearance i will have, not a lot of ground clearance but loads for headers etc :thumbright: next job is the rear end this might be a headache as the kit is for a duster, they dont do one for a dart, so i might have to use my imagination and a tube bender to get it sorted.
