It's an OZ unit used in some Holdens.MG used it in their V8 Rover 75. Essentially a vane type hydraulic pump in the diff.

jerry, it is a viscous diff, works the same as a torque converter, when one side looses grip it transfers power to the other axle hydraulicaly, with it been fluid drive it does not wear out like a normal lsd, just have to keep the oil cool in them

BTR are the company that became
www.SpicerAxle.com.au
formerly Borg Warner Austrlia
UK agents were BPW the artic trailer people
make diffs in the 7 3/4 to 8 1/2 inch sizes
3 types
Hydratrack
Integral cone slip resistant
and seprated Cone Slip resistant centres
the later two are the type that Bacca really doesn't like
in either beam axle or IRS configuration
everyone on here says they are all rubbish as often their only exposure to BTR products is the open version of the m78 used in valiant chargers

and in that form they are fragile
although i'm sure anyone with a modern monaro or holden truck
a late model ford falcon
a nissan skyline
a lotus carlton
a TVR
a Marcos
a Morgan
will say yeah they have the faults but, i aint had an issue..........

update on progress, not done much due to other priorities, frame rails are in and started to build up the rear frame and suspension pickups,
did some research on the btr differential which i was going to use at first on a n/a engine, and now with the extra power decided to go with the viper diff.

rear wheel mounted, this will be the finished ride height , have left enough clearance arond frame for wider wheels, these are 10x19 with 285 tyres will go to 315 or 355, dont really want to raise it as the way i have angled the upper and lower arms the centre of gravity is 1 inch above ground height.

Many people dream of doing a build like this but never finish (or even start) it.
So many in fact that I wondered if you were yet another dreamer.
Boy was I wrong.
Really good work. Looking forward to seeing this car finished. It is going to be a BIG hit with the magazines etc. and a Nats Winner for sure.
