Looks like you should have cleared the leaves out from the scuttle area for JC before he started, Andy...

try this guy mr runner-i got his number when i first had the imperial.
the a/c controller is auto temp II and was used on mercedes cars as well.
i got it regassed at the time and everything worked ok apart from that bit!
